Members present: M Dadd [Chairman], T Hodgekiss [Sec], R Birtley, T Gregory, R Pascoe, I Brown, R Plowman, M Ogilvy, G Goulston.

Minutes and Matters arising:

‘Members present’ were not recorded in the last minutes and R Plowman asked that this should always be done – agreed by the meeting.

The ‘members only’ password for the website was written incorrectly. It should be ‘cibma09’ . The members list was updated 2 months ago, but members were unsure how to access their area on the website. RP could not help and members asked that Liz J – please clarify this [Action - LJ].

R P’s tame financial advisor [J Elsigood] will now give his presentation later and RP proposed Jan 2010, 2nd week.

It was felt that the possible inaccuracies referred to in the last minutes should have been identified.

J Pidgeon had confirmed that he had sent a letter of thanks to M Bushell at J Hill and his presentation was available on-line if anyone wanted it.

Treasurer’s report:

The treasurer had not been able to provide a detailed report for this meeting. Members asked if he could provide a report with details for the next meeting, preferably emailed in advance. [Action – MD].

The treasurer, who also produces the membership list, asked members to note that M Dadd’s phone number is shown incorrectly in the current list. It should be  01730 – 893579.

Business Opportunities: There were no new leads. The follow-up to Terry Wiles’ request was unknown.

Web Site report: RP confirmed that he had carried out the actions from the last meeting.  These minutes are copied to Liz for her to put on the members-only website section, with instructions on how to access this [as noted above].

Future Programme:

June – visit to Langmeads, Grove Farm, Merston, Nr Chichester.[off the A259, opposite the MB garage]. Group to meet first at the Gribble Inn, Oving at 12.30. Depart at 2.15 to the farm. Tour guide is Will Fleming, to see salad crops, packing, etc. May need boots if wet. RP will send out an email which members should respond to by the closing date.[Action – all]

July – visit to Down House, Kent. Members wishing to go must inform A Knowles by 31st May. The meeting agreed that AMBIC wives could attend this visit, but not AMBIC monthly meetings. A Knowles will send out a final reminder email [Action – AK].  RB asked that AK also send out a final list of who is going, so that car-sharing could be arranged,[Action - AK].

Aug no meeting

Sept – Fernhurst Furnace visit. Note date is now 11th Sept. Suggested that members bring a packed lunch for this visit.

Oct – IB had offered Ben Laws £10 per head + Lunch [it is normally £50 pp]. No reply yet, but IB will pursue this [Action – IB].

Nov – Wine tasting – D Petche is organizing this and he will confirm the details. IB proposes that we use the Fernhurst Centre which holds 15 people comfortably.[Action DP & IB].

Pensioner’s lunch – no reply had been received from DP or V Fischer, from members who had emailed them. The meeting suggested that all who wanted to attend should confirm or phone if necessary. [Action – all].

Christmas lunch – Proposed for the Mill Tavern, Camelsdale. Date – TBC. MD to progress [Action – MD].

AOB:

Remedi Health Care -  R Pascoe, who is 65 in June [he doesn’t look it!], has had a chronic condition for 2+ years. Remedi claim a right to refuse MRI scans and are proposing to refer him to another company instead.  RP rang S Crosbie [Pensions] to query this, as the wording in this year’s contract was different to last year’s. It depends on Syngenta’s interpretation and  S. Crosbie will reply to RP. RP was asked to report back to AMBIC and to Ken Drake, the pensioner visitor, for information.
[Roger, if I have not explained this properly, please send out your own note and if there is now anything more we should know]

Future meetings venue- MO has the view that the Noah’s Ark food is no longer good value and maybe we should consider somewhere else as a ’base’, e.g. Kings Arms, Duke of Cumberland , Red Lion. The meeting agreed to consider alternatives. MD will discuss with the Mill Tavern, Camelsdale and other members should make their local assessments. To be discussed at future meetings.

T Bennett asked that a seminar at the SCI  on 14th May, organised by Alan Baylis, be mentioned to the meeting. Any member welcome.

Alan Hayes – a report that he is now ill.

Next Meeting: Friday 5th June at The Gribble Inn, Oving, Nr. Chichester.

Chair – D Evans, Sec – M Parham.

The meeting finished at 2.20pm
