ENVIRONMENTAL CONSULTING AND PROJECT MANAGEMENT

Countryside Stewardship

Industrial landscaping

Martin Parham is a partner and environmental consultant in Herbiseed, the supplier of weed, wildflower and herb seeds.  He is particularly responsible for ecological assessment, mitigation of environmental impacts of new developments, environmental restitution, ecologically sensitive landscaping of industrial sites, planning and implementation of Environmental Stewardship schemes on farms.

Martin has a PhD in ecology, 20 years experience in agricultural R&D for a major chemical company and 20 years project management of landscaping and habitat creation on private land, housing projects and industrial sites.  He combines a sound knowledge of ecology with an understanding of the financial and regulatory constraints on development projects, and the value of an environmentally favourable image to developers, farmers and industry.  On the muddy construction site his practical approach to operators of construction equipment gains their co-operation in turning ecological plans into aesthetically pleasing and ecologically valuable landscapes.

  • Developed a set of guidelines for the revegetation of derelict industrial and urban sites for ICI Chemicals Division.

  • Project managed the capping and establishment of wildflower grassland on a landfill site for Teesside Power Station.

  • Developed rapidly establishing wildflower mixtures and techniques for establishing vegetation on extremely difficult sites during a series of projects for British Steel Corporation.

  • Worked with ecological consultants employed by Amerada Hess on re-vegetating soil disturbed by installation of natural gas pipelines through sites of special scientific interest, agricultural and industrial land.

  • Provided ecological impact mitigation advice and project management for naturalistic vegetation establishment on an extensive residential project in Slough.
